This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the business of the Gold & Stock Telegraph Co. This company was incorporated in New York in August 1867 to exploit Edward Calahan's stock ticker. In February 1870 Edison began working under contract to officials of the Gold & Stock Co. Among the items from 1872 is an incomplete letter from Calahan, probably written to Marshall Lefferts or one of the other major stockholders in the Exchange Telegraph Co., Ltd.
