Description: This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the financial and administrative operations of Thomas A. Edison, Inc. and its constituent concerns. Most of the documents pertain to the assignment of duties among executives, managers, and committees and the appointment and resignation of personnel. Included are items relating to the acrimonious departure of President Frank L. Dyer in November 1912, the appointment of Edison as president, and the subsequent reorganization of duties and assignments. Also included is a 27-page report to Edison—prepared by Dyer on August 1, 1912, shortly after his return from Europe—reviewing market conditions and the operation of Edison's foreign interests in motion pictures, phonographs, and ore milling. In addition, there is discussion of copyright issues, films in South Africa, and the development of cameras and color film processes. Some of the documents reveal Edison's direct involvement in the details of company operations, such as personally answering letters from complaining customers.
Approximately 50 percent of the documents have been selected. The items not selected consist primarily of receipts, stock certificates, meeting announcements, and duplicates and variants of selected documents.
