Description: This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the use of Edison's alkaline storage battery in electric vehicles and automobile ignition systems, along with items concerning automobiles owned by Edison and his family. Among the documents for 1913 are letters pertaining to Edison's acquisition of a Model T Ford. The correspondents include H. W. Hillman, president of the General Vehicle Co.; longtime Edison associate Samuel Insull of the Commonwealth Edison Co.; and W. F. Siegmund, president of the Detroit Electric Car Co. of St. Louis.
Approximately 40 percent of the documents have been selected. The unselected items consist primarily of unsolicited correspondence, invoices from garage services, and records of sundry expenses.
