This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to mines and minerals to be bought, sold, surveyed, worked, or tested. Included is correspondence with geologist Henry C. Demming and with Harrison S. Morris, president of the Wharton Steel Co. The documents contain references to Edison's earlier magnetic surveying for iron ores in New Jersey and his acquaintance with industrial pioneer Joseph Wharton.
Approximately 40 percent of the documents have been selected. The material not selected consists primarily of unsolicited correspondence, some of which bear perfunctory notations by Edison.
