The Thomas A. Edison Papers Digital Edition

This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to Edison's formal awards and honors. Included are items concerning a ceremony at Carnegie Hall, where Edison was presented with the Civic Forum Medal of Honor for Distinguished Public Service. Also included is correspondence with longtime Edison associate Samuel Insull and others regarding the Franklin Medal, awarded to Edison by the Franklin Institute, along with letters from President John G. Hibben of Princeton University inviting Edison to attend commencement ceremonies and receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

Approximately 50 percent of the documents have been selected, including all items bearing substantive marginalia by Edison.
