Description: This letterbook covers the period August-October 1889. Most of the correspondence is by Charles Batchelor, Thomas Maguire, John F. Randolph, and Alfred O. Tate. A few of the letters are by Edison. Many of the letters relate to the manufacture and marketing of the phonograph and talking doll and to music recordings made at the West Orange laboratory. Other letters pertain to mining and ore milling and to Edison's phonoplex system. Some of the correspondence deals with the acquisition of property at Silver Lake, N. J. for the Edison Manufacturing Co. There are also letters to the firm of Dyer & Seely regarding patents on dynamos and other inventions. The book contains 500 numbered pages and an index. Approximately 20 percent of the book has been selected.
