This letterbook covers the period January-April 1917. Most of the correspondence is by Edison and William H. Meadowcroft. Some of the items pertain to war-related work for the U.S. Government, including submarine research conducted at Sandy Hook, New Jersey. There are also letters concerning the late Jonas Walter Aylsworth, longtime Edison associate and developer of Condensite. Among the correspondents are C. C. C. Bradley, a nephew of electrical manufacturer and old-time Edison acquaintance Leverett Bradley; manufacturers John A. Brashear and Richard M. Colgate; and motion picture executive George Kleine.
The spine is stamped "Letters" and is marked "T.A.E. From Jan. 22, 1917 To April 26 1917." The number "54" also appears on the spine. The book contains 700 numbered pages and an index. Approximately 15 percent of the book has been selected.
