The Thomas A. Edison Papers Digital Edition

This account book covers the years 1878-1888 and contains financial records of Charles and Rosanna Batchelor The entries, which are in Batchelor's hand, relate to his accounts with Edison; with the Edison Lamp Co., the Edison Machine Works, Bergmann & Co., and other domestic and foreign lighting companies; and with New York banks and financial institutions, including Drexel, Morgan & Co. and the Seaman's Bank. Included are records of patent royalties, stock dividends, and other payments resulting from Batchelor's interests in Edison's companies and inventions. Some of the accounts contain comments by Batchelor concerning his share in the proceeds from Edison's inventions. There are also records of the Batchelors' personal savings and checking accounts and listings of safe deposit vaults and their contents. The book contains 486 numbered pages, including an index beginning on page 481. The index appears first.
