There are no dated entries in this notebook with the exception of one entry for February 12 (no year). The book probably dates from 1879. Many of the entries are by Henry M. McIntire. There are also some entries by Edison. Most of the book consists of notes by McIntire on mixtures of metal sulphides and stannic sulphides. There are also miscellaneous calculations, possibly on meters, and notes by Edison on chemical experiments and on experiments to produce a coal-like residue from vegetable substances. The book was paginated twice, from the front to the back (pp. 1-142) and from the back to the front (pp. 1-284). In the first sequence, all of the left-hand pages are unnumbered.
Blank pages [first sequence]: 42-47, 72-76, 80-141.
