This notebook covers the period December 1879-June 1880. The entries are by Edison, Charles Batchelor, and Francis Upton and relate to electric lamps. Included are notes, drawings, calculations, and tests of lamps; a caveat by Edison; and drawings by Batchelor of a glass blowing machine for making lamp bulbs. There is also a set of notes about lamps burning at Menlo Park, which appear to be in the hand of Albert Herrick. The book contains 264 numbered pages.
Pages 6-7, 28-29, 32-33, 46-47, and 60-61 are blank; pages 37-38 and 261-262 are missing.
The caveat by Edison, ca. February 25, 1880, was published as Doc. 1907 in The Papers of Thomas A. Edison, Vol. 5. It consists of the following pages: 49-57, 63-99, 105-109. Pages 63-99 and 105-109 were copied by Charles Mott into Notebook, Cat. 997.
