This notebook has no dated entries but was probably used during 1879 and 1880. Most of the entries are by Francis Upton and relate to electric lighting. Included are calculations about the cost of central stations, conductors, and electric power distribution. There are also notes, drawings, and calculations about lamps, dynamos, and vacuum pumps, along with a few calculations by Edison relating to electric power distribution. The label on the front cover is marked "Upton." An index has been pasted onto the inside front cover. The book contains 285 numbered pages. Pages 236-241 are blank; pages 1-4, 129-130, 132-139, and 275-278 are missing.
