[QD006-F] Sawyer and Man v. Edison [lamp filament] (1881)

This 198-page pamphlet contains testimony and exhibits on Edison's behalf. Edison lost the interference; a favorable ruling on appeal was overturned, and the application (Case 187) was not issued as a patent. However, most of the record from the interference (including testimony by Edison, Charles Batchelor, and Francis R. Upton) was later entered as evidence in Edison Electric Light Company v. United States Electric Lighting Company and can be found with the other records from that case. Both the interference and the lawsuit relate to Edison's early work on incandescent lamps; the court case concerns the validity of Edison's U.S. Patent 223,898, his first carbon filament lamp patent.
