This file consists of testimony on behalf of Edison in the case of Edison and Gilliland v. Phelps, which involved conflicting claims over inventions in railway signaling. Included are depositions, taken in June 1886, by Edison; his personal secretary, Samuel Insull; his business associates, Ezra T. Gilliland, James A. Russell, John C. Tomlinson, and Frank W. Toppan; draftsman Julian A. Hurdle; and longtime employees Martin N. Force and John F. Ott.
