The Thomas A. Edison Papers Digital Edition

These letters, which cover the years 1898-1911, are from Robert Anderson Miller (1861-1911) to his younger sister, Mina Miller Edison. The letters concern the travels and domestic life of Miller and Edison family members; visits in Akron, Ohio, and West Orange, New Jersey; and the health of Edison and other family members. Included are several references to the illness of Mary E. Miller and her treatment at the Battle Creek Sanitarium in 1909. One letter acknowledges Edison's influence upon President William McKinley in recommending Miller as U.S. postmaster in San Juan, Puerto Rico. There is also discussion of the suicide of Edison's personal secretary, John F. Randolph, and the liquidation of the family business, Aultman Miller & Co.
