These documents, which cover the years 1893-1898, consists primarily of correspondence from Theodore Westwood Miller (1875-1898) to his older sister, Mina Miller Edison. Other recipients include Thomas, Madeleine, and Charles Edison and Mary V. and Grace Miller. The letters discuss Theodore's education at Yale University; visits to Glenmont, the Edison home in Llewellyn Park, New Jersey; and outings with Charles and Madeleine. Also included are letters and clippings relating to Miller's enlistment in the Rough Riders and his death in the Spanish-American War. A clipping from the Akron Beacon Journal entitled "Death of a Hero" contains a transcription of a diary kept by Miller during his service with the Rough Riders in June 1898. Also included in the clipping is a transcription of a letter from Theodore to his mother, written one week after he was wounded in the Battle of San Juan Hill and one day before he died.
