These two undated letters are by Nancy Elizabeth Wadsworth (1834-1920), whose mother Elizabeth Elliott Balcom was the sister of Edison's mother Nancy Elliott Edison. One item, written around 1899-1900, concerns a phonograph given to "Lizzie" by Edison. There are also references to the illness of her husband, Capt. William Wadsworth, and her meeting with Mina Miller Edison. The other letter, written in December 1914, mentions the fire that destroyed or damaged more than half of the buildings in the West Orange laboratory complex.
The letters are from Book #17 on the Charles Edison Fund microfilm. Click here for a list of all the correspondence books on the CEF microfilm.
