Reel B.F. #8 of the Charles Edison Fund microfilm contains a collection of documents, primarily of a legal nature, numbered from 110 through 147. Most of these documents were subsequently donated to the Edison National Historical Park and appear in the Family Records Series in the digital edition of the Thomas A. Edison Papers, Part III (1887-1898). The documents presented here are not in the Family Records Series. Included are account sheets and other documents relating to Edison's role as the guardian of his sons, Thomas Edison, Jr., and William L. Edison (1895-1899). Also included are fire insurance policies with the Westchester Fire Insurance Co. (1887), German American Insurance Co. of New York (1888), and Royal Insurance Co. of Liverpool (1889). Some of the writing on the policies is very faint.
Not selected are a series of checks to the American Surety Co. and others (Doc. 133), deposit statements pertaining to interest payments on government bonds (Doc. 134), and a bank book for the Knickerbocker Trust Co. (Doc. 135).
Another iteman 1890 mortgage assignment from Dr. Albert Hartsuff to Edison (Doc. 115)is an enclosure to a letter from Edison's personal attorney, Sherburne B. Eaton, and can be found with that letter in the Part III Family Records Series.
