This collection consists primarily of letters exchanged between Edison and Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels, along with related correspondence. Many of the typewritten letters are accompanied by drafts in Edison's hand. The documents in this folder are from July-September 1917. A letter from Edison to Daniels, written on July 26, offers a suggestion in regard to the mining of the harbor of Zeebrugge in Belgium. A note to Edison by his personal assistant, William H. Meadowcroft, on September 17 indicates that the Navy had not followed up on Edison's suggestion.
This project is described on p. 184 of Lloyd N. Scott's Naval Consulting Board of the United States.
