These letters by Edison are from 1878, 1882, and 1910. Included is a February 1878 letter to Frank H. Scott of Scribner's Monthly discussing Edison's plans to manufacture small, inexpensive phonographs to be used in exhibitions. Also included is an 1882 letter to Charles L. Clarke chief engineer of the Edison Electric Light Co. of New York, regarding a series of experiments with electric lights and meters. Three letters to Ralph H. Beach, president of the Federal Storage Battery Car Co., date from April 1910 and concern the design and performance of streetcars equipped with Edison's storage battery. A September 1910 letter to R. D. Worrell Jewelry Co. of Mexico, Missouri, pertains to a free trial campaign for Edison's "new improved phonograph."
