These documents cover the years 1889, 1912, and 1921. Included are four letters written by Margaret A. Upton, second wife of Edison associate Francis R. Upton, in August 1889 while the recently married couple were attending the Paris Universal Exposition with Thomas and Mina Edison. The letters discuss the various dinners and performances that the two families attended, as well as their visits to the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, and other sites. Also included are a few printed cards relating to the Uptons' activities in Paris and a telegram from Samuel Insull, Edison's financial manager, concerning a bamboo order. The 1912 and 1921 letters, written by Edison after Upton left his employ, refer to their past work together. The 1921 letter is from the first volume of scrapbooks; the other items are from the second volume, Margaret A. Upton's wedding souvenir scrapbook. The scrapbooks contain numerous other cards, clippings, and miscellaneous printed documents relating to the Paris Exposition.
