These letters from Frederic Allen Whiting, director of the Cleveland Museum of Art, cover the period June 1916-October 1917. They refer to Edison's gift to the Museum of a Diamond Disc phonograph and records and to their use in free musical evenings. Two replies by Edison's assistant William H. Meadowcroft are also included, along with an advertisement for an electric phonograph winder, as referred to in the letters.
Correspondence that duplicates the letters in the General Letterbooks Series, Thomas A. Edison Papers, Part V, has not been selected. Also not selected are several items relating to outdoor illumination of the Museum in October 1929.
