The dated items in this collection are from 1910 and 1920; the undated items are probably from the same period. The documents consist primarily of technical notes by Edison relating to phonograph record manufacturing, storage batteries, and experiments with metal alloys. The names of John F. Ott, Ludwig (Louis) Ott, and John W. Lystrup of the Edison Storage Battery Co. appear in the documents. Also included is an item entitled "Manuscript of Mr. Edison's message to the American People," which was probably prepared shortly after the end of World War I.
An image of Edison's August 1920 note to Lystrup, along with other related documents, can be found in the John W. Lystsrup Papers.
