These five folders contain material relating to Madeleine Edison's student years at Bryn Mawr College. Madeleine entered Bryn Mawr in September 1906 and left at the end of her sophomore year in June 1908. She continued to maintain an active interest in the college, joining the Bryn Mawr Club, attending numerous class reunions, and remaining in contact with several of her college friends. Folders with documents selected for publication appear with links on the list below.
Related documents can be found in the Bryn Mawr Scrapbook and in the Madeleine Edison Correspondence (1906-1909).
- Bryn Mawr College Transcripts. This folder contains a photocopy of Madeleine Edison's official undergraduate transcript, made from the original in the archives of Bryn Mawr College. The transcript lists courses, along with a number grade for each. There is also an information sheet indicating that Madeleine entered Bryn Mawr with "conditions" in geometry, Latin, and spelling (meaning that she would have to re-take her entrance examinations on those subjects). The sheet also indicates that a certificate of health was submitted by Dr. John Hammond Bradshaw of Orange, New Jersey, and a certificate of character by Helen Walker of Orange.
- Bryn Mawr College Catalog, 1907-1908. This folder contains photocopies of course requirements for graduation (pp. 58-65) and physics requirements for first- and second-year students (pp. 140-141).
- Bryn Mawr College Yearbook. This folder contains photocopies from the Book of the Class of 1910, edited by Ruth George. The copies are from pages 11-14, 18-19, 25-26, 30-32, 39, 101-102, 109-110, 118-120, 124-127. The complete yearbook can be downloaded here. Included are the following humorous essays by Madeleine Edison: "Little Maude and her Mama Visit B.M." (pp. 13-14), "Sophomore Play" (pp. 31-32), "Sophomore Supper" (p. 39), "Garden Party" (pp. 109-110). The other pages contain references to Madeleine Edison, including a "Class Prophecy" by Elsa Denison in which Madeleine marries the King of Mars.
- Bryn Mawr College Student Publications. This folder contains photocopies of two articles by Madeleine Edison in Tipyn O Bob, the undergraduate literary magazine. (1) "Morning Chat Between Dr. Samuel Johnson and His 'Scotch Terrier.'" Vol. V, No. 6 (April 1908), 25-26; (2) "His Wife's Ambitions." Vol. VI, No. 6 (April 1909), 8-10. Both volumes of this magazine can be downloaded from the archive.org website by clicking the links. Also included in the folder are original pages of articles by Madeleine's classmate, Ruth E. George, which were removed from various issues of the magazine (1908-1909).
- Bryn Mawr College Alumnae Questionnaires. This folder contains a printed questionnaire with responses in Madeleine Edison Sloane's handwriting, along with a three-page biographical sketch in Madeleine's handwriting. An earlier version of pages 2-3 appears on the back of p. 2. The questionnaire is dated September 28, 1937.
