These two letters by Ira Mandeville Miller (1856-1934) and his wife Cora Wise Miller (1864-1935) are both from 1899. Ira was the oldest brother of Mina Miller Edison. He and Cora married on October 19, 1886. A letter from Cora to "Maime" (Mary Emily Miller), February 14, 1899, comments on the illness of Lewis Miller, who died three days later at the Post-Graduate Hospital in New York City following an unsuccessful operation. A letter from Ira to Mina, March 9, 1899, mentions the impact of Lewis's death on his company, Aultman Miller & Co. and expresses his wish that Thomas Edison would take a more active interest in the company. Enclosed with the letter is a financial report for Aultman Miller & Co. showing assets and liabilities of $2,712,817.
