This scrapbook, which consists of clippings pasted onto the pages of the October 31, 1931 issue of The Literary Digest, contains articles from newspapers and periodicals about Thomas Edison's final illness, death, and funeral. Also included are tributes to Edison, anecdotes about his life, discussions of his personality and character, articles about his widow Mina and her relationship to the inventor, and news about other family members following his death. There are numerous photographs and other illustrations throughout. Of particular note is an article from the December 1931 issue of The American Magazine entitled "Edison: 'The Greatest American of the Century,'" by Emil Ludwig, a German biographer who visited Edison at Seminole Lodge in 1928.
