Description: The one item in this collection is an 1879 letter to Edison by mining engineer Samuel McMaster, superintendent of the Homestake Mining Co. in Lead City, Dakota Territory. The letter relates to the application of Edison's electric lighting system to the company's mines and mills. McMaster, who died in 1884, was the great great uncle of the letter's present owner.
