\nDear Sir:
\nI would like very much to get a position in the experimental laboratory of Mr. Edison. I am twenty four years old, have studied electrical engineering, have four years shop experience and have worked three more years with several telephone companies from whom I have letters of reference. I served them in the capacity of electrician.
\nI hold several patents on electrical devices, weighing systems hotel and telephone calls and others all based on harmonic vibration, are covered by them.
\nI have made a study of vibratory motion, especially electroharmonic vibration.
\nI mail to you under separate cover a copy of Scientific American Aug 18, 1900 containing an article written by me describing a weighing system of my design on the harmonic principle.
\nIf you have a position to offer I hope you will let me know. I will not expect any but modest wages, my principle object would be to obtain the valuable experience to be had in your great shop.
\nYours very truly,
\nEdward McGarvey"},{"label":"Author","value":"McGarvey, Edward"},{"label":"Recipient","value":"West Orange Laboratory"},{"label":"Mentioned","value":["Scientific American","Edison, Thomas Alva"]},{"label":"Date","value":"1901-07-01"},{"label":"Type","value":"Letter"},{"label":"Subject","value":"Labor"},{"label":"Folder/Volume ID","value":"D0110-F"},{"label":"Microfilm ID","value":"187:162"},{"label":"Document ID","value":"D0110AAA"},{"label":"URL","value":"https://edisondigital.rutgers.edu/document/D0110AAA"},{"label":"Rights","value":"Thomas Edison National Historical Park"},{"label":"Publisher","value":"Thomas A.
