It was like the sketch it had a very long handle which in pulling down wound up a Spring and started the wheel provided with teeth arranged at different points. These teeth served to vibrate the lever and armature in front of the magnet connected to the horse shoe steel magnets and thus send waves on the line. It was put up at Gold and Stock and you and Andrews came over and saw it. I remember that Andrews refused to buy it as it cost too much to make and others made fun of it saying people would use it to hang their hats on. I am in Intereference with a party on this and therefore write to see if you remember the original instrument I have. Hoping to hear from you soon in regard to it I remain"},{"label":"Author","value":"Edison, Thomas Alva"},{"label":"Recipient","value":"Sawyer, William H"},{"label":"Mentioned","value":["American District Telegraph Co","Gold and Stock Telegraph Co"]},{"label":"Date","value":"1882-05-16"},{"label":"Type","value":"Letter"},{"label":"Subject","value":["Patent interference","District and alarm telegraphs (domestic telegraph)"]},{"label":"Folder/Volume ID","value":"LB012-F"},{"label":"Microfilm ID","value":"81:677"},{"label":"Document ID","value":"LB012326"},{"label":"URL","value":"https://edisondigital.rutgers.edu/document/LB012326"},{"label":"Rights","value":"Thomas Edison National Historical Park"},{"label":"Publisher","value":"Thomas A.
