\nDear Sir:-
\n I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your communication, notifying me of the death of Mr. Thomas Butler, at St. Thomas’s Home, on October 5th, last. I regretted exceedingly to receive this sad intelligence, as did all of Mr. Butler’s friends in America.
\n I understand that Mr. Butler’s effects have been taken charge of by Mr. Samuel Insull of London. If not too much trouble, will you kindly inform me if this understanding is correct. Any additional information with which you can furnish me on the subject, will be much appreciated.
\nYours very truly,
