Title
[D8104ZEQ], Letter from Ella Gillespie to Thomas Alva Edison, November 3rd, 1881
Editor's Notes
"Would you be kind enough to let me know whether the telephonoscope is a success or not. All that I know about it, is that there is such a thing & that it will enable deaf or partially deaf people to hear perfectly. I come under this latter head & so far have tried everything ever heard of, but without success. Before I ask whether this invention of yours can help me or not, let me tell you that the drum of my ear is entirely destroyed & is slightly affected in the other. Hoping you will find it convenient to answer me soon, as I am really anxious to find something that will help me." "P.S. Enclosed you will find an envelope addressed and stamped." [Note at bottom, possibly Batchelor? "Refers to megaphone Say Mr Edison had to suspend his experiments to give his attention to E. L. He may probably return to subject some future date"]
