received your kind letter of 12th, with invitation of the Boston Club to be present at their first anniversary, on 21st. # It would give me great pleasure to attend this celebration, but my experimental work is in such a condition that it is impossible for me to leave it even for a short time. I am sure that the occasion would be a most enjoyable one, and I wish you would express to the Club my regret at being unable to attend.
