I beg to acknowledge with many thanks the receipt of a complimentary ticket to the Ohio Centennial, also several communications from your Officers, cordially inviting me to attend this celebration in person. My absense from Orange has prevented an earlier acknowledgement of your courtesy. I regret exceedingly that my engagements will not permit me to accept your hospitality, but my best and earnest wishes are with you that you will make an unprecedented success of the celebration now being held in my native State. In grateful acknowledgement of the compliment which you have paid me.
