I have observed that there is much conflict of opinion among your admirers here who are practically the “British public," as to what they ought to admire you for most. I mean as to which of your inventions is the most important. I suppose no one but Time or yourself can settle this, and I should deem it a great privilege if you would consent to write me a few pages on the subject for "Murray's Magazine" which can at any rate ensure you a wide & intelligent audience. ## The mere enumeration of your enterprises, with any details you could add concerning them, especially by way of illustration or anecdote, would I know, coming from your pen, be immensely popular. Still more would your judgement be valued as to the comparative utility of the same. ## You will have noticed that we are just now making a great push with electric lighting here: I wonder what you think of our methods and energy, and whether we have got hold of the night end of the stick. ## Please let my zeal for our readers be a sufficient apology [troubling you, and believe me, faithfully yrs.
