November 9, 1892.
My dear Mr. Hornsby,-
It is very gratifying for me to state that I have settled everything amicably with the General Electric Co., and that so far as we are concerned there is no reason why you should further withhold the allotment of their space. They have agreed to place Section No. 22 at Mr. Edison’s disposition, for his personal exhibit, and we are combining our efforts to make this worthy not only of the man, but of the nation which he represents. I have established a most thorough understanding and the most cordial relations with the representatives of the General Electric Company, which is a condition that I am sure will bring you great relief.
Mr. Edison has asked me to express to you and to Gen’l. Davis his great appreciation of the courtesies and support which you extended to him, and desires me to say further that if you can conveniently place Mr. Lombard in an official capacity where he can with greater facility cooperate with yourself in establishing this exhibit he will appreciate your action very highly.
Yours truly,
Private Secretary.
