[FB002AAH] Letter, c. 1888

Editor's Notes

Your last letter I received yesterday morning. I was very glad to hear from you but I could not tell just how to take it. I hope you do not think Mama that it is my fault that I do not have more to do I shouldbe extremely glad if you should write Mrs. Johnsons about the [---------?] and find out for yourself and not [depend?] on me. I told you just simply the truth about it and do not blame you for doubting me for you said it is wrong not take [?]. Mrs. Allen is the one to write to about the studies Mrs. Johnson does not have anything to do with that, it will not be necessary to write her if you believe me but I would rather have you write. Please don't have me come home now Mama, I am having a splendid time all the girls seem bent on having a good time and working as little as possible, next Friday night we are going to have a [snow-ride? Show ride?] and that same night late I am invited to a [-----?] nothing like being a society girl while in school. Well have had [----rable] [----------] here. I hope you are feeling a little better. I suppose the boys are working hard at [-------?] in Miss Johnson to allow me to waste my time as I am most certainly going now. Of course it would be all right if I could do as Papa said I could but Mama you were once a girl yourself and know that it would be simply an impossibilityfor me to take up a study like Rhetoric or Grammar and do it justice by myself. Yesterday I went to Mrs. Allen to see if there wasn't something I could take but of course as I knew that there was not I could tell what her answer would be. Physics and Geometry are the only studies besides U.S History, that are taken up new this term and as I have never taken Algebra she said I could and there [firescs?] don't let them forget to send me a copy of them first [happen if they ever print it?] We had a sharade the other night from the boys at "Carlton's school." Give my love to all and to Grandma when you write her. I must close much love for yourself. I am as ever your loving Marion Edison
