I write for mr Edison to inquire if you recollect anything about a certain Distinct Box that was made at the shop of Murray and Edison in Newark in 1873 or '74. It was a rosewood box about 6 inches long, 4 inches high and 3 inches deep. It had a long steel arm projecting from one side with a hard rubber handle on it. The box was worked by pulling down on the handle, which wound up a spring. When the handle was released, the clock-work vibrated an armature in front of two spools on a permanent magnet, and [sent] magnets current over the line.## If you do not remember the [operation], you may recollect the appearance of the box. Mr Edison thinks Kohler did the work on the mechanism##Please reply at your earliest convenience.
