- Editor's Notes
- Referring to your favor of 25th inst I regret to say that I am unable to give you any details as to the working of [Phosperous] in your Consular District as personally I have nothing to do with the business beyond receiving a certain [fixed] royalty for the use of my invention.##Although there are at the present time comparatively few telephones in use bearing my name yet there are none, (so far as the Transmitter is concerned) of the many forms that are in use, that are not served by my invention of the Carbon Telephone. The main feature of this invention is the use of carbon in a telephone transmitter which is covered by my American Tele;hone patent the [Carbon] Transmitters & other forms of Carbon Telephones could not been used by the American Bell Telephone Company but for the fact that they bought my Telephone Patent from the American Speaking Telephone Company to whom I sold all my Telephone rights some years back.
