- Referring to your favor of 18th inst the workmanship on the Armington & Sims Engine is probably better than any Engine made in the world. We never overhaul or do anything to these Engines. The Armington [Cord] is better than the Porter we have three Porter and three Armington's at our Central Station; The Porter's gives endless trouble no. 2 Armington made first a run of eight days continuously without stopping an instant a night order It then made a run of eleven days and eight hours and the next run was Sixteen days ten hours Revolutions 175 indicated Horse Power. This is not possible with any other Existing Engine of such power and at so high a rate of speed.
