Title
[LB018469], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to William Jackson Hicks, North Carolina. Penitentiary, October 10th, 1884
Editor's Notes
I have your favor of 6th inst & in reply to state that Lightning Rods are an absolute protection against Lightning & I think it is always advisable to use them. In your case a large plate buried in the Earth at the edge of the lake and connected by 3 or 4 No. 6 galvanized telegraph wires (buried) with the Rods would answer. The ground plate ought to have at least 200 feet surface
