- Editor's Notes
- "A few days since we mailed you a pamphlet, descriptive of the Edison Phonoplex System of Telegraphy, the first sentence of which, under 'Length and Arrangement of Circuits' reads as follows: 'This system of telegraphy can be operated upon circuits not exceeding 100 miles or thereabouts.' ### The above applies more particularly to local wires, and not to through wires without few offices. We have successfully worked a circuit between Pittsburgh and Altoona for more than a year, and one between Philadelphia and Harrisburgh for about six or seven months. We also have a circuit that is working nicely on the National Transit Co. line from Lima, Ohio, to Oil City, Pa., a distance of 300 miles. This latter circuit is worked on a copper wire. ### If you contemplate using the Phonoplex System, we shall be pleased to furnish you with an estimate of the cost of equipment, if you will kindly send us a diagram. ### Mr. Edison has a contract with the Pennsylvania Rail Road Co which gives the latter the right to use the Phonoplex System on any of their lines."
