- "Mr. Edison has received your letter of 6th instant, relative to an exhibition of the phonograph at the Fete champetre des cinq sens," which the ladies of your Society propose holding on June 12th. ### In reply to Mr. Edison desires me to say that he regrets very much he cannot himself loan you a machine for this occasion. He is, however, powerless in the matter, as all exhibitions of this kind are controlled by the North American Phonograph Company, No. 160 Broadway, New York City. I think if you applied to the North Am. Phonograph Co., they could perhaps arrange to let you have a phonograph for the occasion in question." Yours truly, A.O. Tate
