Title
[LB030489], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to C H Aaron, June 21st, 1889
Editor's Notes
"Replying to your letter of 10th inst., I regret to say that Mr. Edison has not time at the moment to give very much thought to the subject of your communication. He says that if you will consult Faraday's Researches, which you can probably find in the Public Library of San Francisco, you can obtain data bearing upon the question which you have brought up. Mr. Edison does not think that [permanganic?] acid would oxidize plumbago. There are a number of batteries made with both plactrodes carbon in solution separated by a [unclear] cup, and which [insertion unclear] act upon each other, and the results which you have obtained from your cell are probably due to the action between permanganic acid and the sulphide which you employ." Yours very truly, AO Tate
