Title

[LB033255], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to H A Perry, October 24th, 1889

Editor's Notes

In reply to your letter of 21st instant addressed to Mr. Edison, asking if electricity can actually be stored, would say that an electric current is passed through a storage battery for the purpose of charging it. It produces in the battery a chemical action or state which afterwards results in a flow of electricity through the battery. The electricity is not actually stored, but the practical effect is the same as though it were. Yours truly, A.O. Tate
