Dear Sir:-
With reference to your letter under date of February 8th last, I beg to inform you, that some time ago, Mr. Edison assigned one of his men to make a search amongst the Laboratory Records for date in connection with the use of amyl acetate as a solvent for proxyline.
The man who was engaged upon this work, suddenly disappeared, and did not leave with us any memorandum of what he had accomplished.
Mr. Edison regrets that at present, there is no available whom he could appoint to continue the search for the data in question. He regrets very much that he is unable to furnish you with the desired information.
Very truly yours,
A.O. Tate
Private Secretary
