April 9th 1890 Lloyd Wellen, Esq., 26 Penn Road Villas, London, England Dear Sir:- Mr. Edison has asked me to thank you for your letter of 18th ultimo, in regard to the Phonograph, new uses for which are being discovered every day. The instrument is admirably adapted for the recording and the reproduction of musical pieces, and is being largely used in that connection all over the United States. It has excited a great deal of interest among musicians, and will doubtless prove to be a very valuable auxiliary to those who are prosecuting the study of music. Mr. Edison receives a great many letters from all parts of the world, in regard to the Phonograph, and he appreciates very much the interest which the public is taking in his invention. Very truly yours, A.O. Tate Private Secretary
