March 16,1891.

Major S.B. Eaton,
#120 Broadway,
New York City.

Dear Sir:-

Mr. Edison has read your letter of 14th instant, in which you report a long talk between yourself and Mr. Rush re E.P Works Claim v. N.A.P. Co., and he has made the following note upon the same:

"MAJOR: I simply wrote the memo to see how it would strike Lippincott: I did not sign it. Suppose I had written six different propositions to see which he would have accepted, according to this I would be bound by all. It’s a nice state of affairs if a man is bound on an unsigned memorandum."

Yours very truly,
AO Tate
Private Secretary.
