New York City.
Dear Sir:-
Mr. Edison has received your letter of 12th instant, and he regrets very much that he is unable to comply with your request, relative to conversing with you on the subject of his telephone for hearing solar disturbance. At the present time Mr.Edison is working night and day, and it is impossible for him to make appointments. Were he to do so, in nine cases out of then, he would be unable to keep them. Besides, the stringing of wire at Ogden, for conducting the experiment referred to, has only just been completed, and many of the details have yet to be attended to. Therefore some time must elapse before Mr. Edison will be able to impart any new information on this subject.
Yours very truly,
A.O. Tate
