Dear Sir:-
Reply to your letter of 17th instant addressed to Mr. Edison, with relation to your son, has been delayed owing to the necessity of my having to forward it to Mr. Edison, who is at present absent from home.
Mr. Edison has now returned your communication with instructions to say to you that in his opinion there is a great future in electrical engineering; that if you desire it he will try and place your son in some department of the Edison business, where, if the young man has sand, he would come out well.
Yours very truly,
(Signed) A. O. Tate
