Dec. 13th, 1893. [H. Leveille, Esq.,?] [illegible] La [illegible], [Le Mans?] [illegible], France. Dear Sir:-- Your letter under date 24th of October, addressed to Mr. Edison, stating that The International Academy of Botanical Geography had conferred upon him a medal of the first degree, was received in his absence, which accounts for the delay that has occurred in sending you this acknowledgement. Mr. Edison appreciates very highly this compliment on the part of your Society, and he shall be very glad to receive the medal referred to. With reference to your postal card on the same subject, Mr. Edison directs me to inform you that if you will forward the medal to Baldwin’s Express, Paris, for transmission to him, it will be duly forwarded. In conclusion, Mr. Edison desires me to express to you and your associates in The International Academy of Botanical Geography his sincere thanks for the honor conferred. Yours very truly, AO. Tate Private Secretary. M.
