November 6th 1896. Mrs Alice C. Ballard Llewellyn Park Orange N. J. Madam:- As I have had a man read the meter at your house for Electric Lighting for the past three months I am convinced that the meter is not working properly. I will agree to furnish you with light for the past three month and until the meter is put in good order for ten dollars per month. After the meter is put in good running order and if I find that I have charged you too much I will refund the amount which I will have overcharged. If you wish I will write to the General Electric Company and have them send out a man to see what is the trouble with the meter. Please let me know if this meets with your approval and oblige. Yours truly Thomas A. Edison R[andolph].
